Brisbane: Serenity flows at Art from the Margins

Art from the Margins (AFTM) launches its 2020 exhibition program with Serenity: the art of John Fu Chong, a retrospective collection from Chinese-born Brisbane-based artist John Fu Chong that explores the artist's perception of landmarks and rural landscapes from across Australia over the last 35 years.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Aboriginal community leader Sam Watson (16 November 1952 - 27 November 2019), whose strong leadership and work as a writer, filmmaker, academic and political activist has had a significant and lasting impact on the advancement of Indigenous rights in Australia.

Epoch | QUT Visual Arts Graduate Exhibition

On Wednesday evening the QUT Visual Arts Graduate Exhibition, Epoch, opened to the public. The exhibition features a diverse range of works produced by students graduating from QUT’s Open Studio art teaching program.

QUT’s Open Studio environment encourages self-directed and intensive study. Speculative inquiry and combinatory play are foregrounded with the various dimensions of creative practice in the Open Studio community.

EXHIBITION: Anne Wallace 'Strange Ways'

Anne Wallace’s figurative paintings are freed from convention, exposing seductive and sinister human curiosities. Held at the QUT Art Museum, Strange Ways displays over 80 of Wallace’s works spanning the past three decades. Curated by Gallery Director Vanessa Van Ooyen, Strange Ways is the most comprehensive exhibition of Wallace’s work yet. Pieces were obtained from both public and private collections to create this extensive retrospective show.

Visit Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa, India this December

Serendipity Arts Foundation returns to Panaji, Goa with its flagship arts initiative - the Serendipity Arts Festival from 15 to 22 December 2019. The annual, multi-disciplinary Festival is open to all, and this year will host over 90 dynamic projects with over 1200 artists highlighting India’s rich traditions of music, dance, and theatre, alongside photography, culinary arts, craft, and visual arts exhibitions.
